The Deutsche Bodenhilfsstoff Gesellschaft plays a crucial role in supporting the Sahara Renaissance Project (SAREP) by providing Agrobiogel, an innovative soil additive with numerous positive effects on soil quality and agricultural productivity in arid regions like the Sahara.
Through this partnership, we are making a significant contribution to the realization of SAREP's ambitious goals, which aim to transform the desert into a fertile and sustainable region.

Goals with the use of Agrobiogel in the SAREP Project
Soil Improvement: With Agrobiogel, we enhance the soil structure in the desert areas of the Sahara. The hydrogel stores water in the soil and prevents its rapid evaporation, which is especially important under the region's dry conditions.
Efficient Resource Utilization: We help reduce water consumption in agriculture by 20-40%. At the same time, we minimize the leaching of fertilizers, leading to more efficient use of available nutrients and ensuring optimal plant nutrition.
Drought Resistance: Our experiments show that Agrobiogel stabilizes enzyme activity in the soil and promotes stronger root development in plants during dry periods. This helps plants survive and thrive better, even under extreme climatic conditions.
Carbon Sequestration and Humus Formation: With Agrobiogel, we increase carbon input into the soil, promote humus formation, and contribute to the long-term fertility of the soil. This supports not only agricultural productivity but also the SAREP project's climate protection efforts by enhancing the soil's ability to sequester CO₂.
Activation of Soil Life: We stimulate soil life by supporting the activity of microorganisms in the soil. This leads to improved soil structure and better nutrient availability, further increasing agricultural productivity.
